2010 Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure

by Erin on October 12, 2010 · 0 comments

The Pink Pirates have done it again!  Racing to “Save Second Base” in this year’s Denver Race For The Cure in honor of friends, family, and strangers suffering from breast cancer.  This year was a special year for us, as we welcomed two new pirates to our crew:

Alaina, snoozing all the way to the start line

Evan, decked out in his pirate garb

Navigating a crowd of over fifty thousand people is a bit different when you’ve got a stroller, but once we got going, the day couldn’t have gone better.  Gorgeous weather, happy babies, and an amazing group of people with a common goal made for a perfect morning!  (Brunch afterward at McCormick’s didn’t hurt either!)  It is a great feeling to bring my new baby in on a tradition that I’ve shared with my mom and some of our closest friends in celebration of so many amazing people.  My grandmother is a survivor, with over 36 years cancer free.  Her strength is an inspiration, and something that I plan to celebrate with my daughter and her grandma for years to come!

I don’t have all of the photos from everyone yet, but here are a few of my favorites:

Thumbnail image for Regenexx ~ The Reinject

The morning of my reinject, I was in pretty good shape.  The soreness of the marrow draw had worn off, and I was prepared for recovery with some new jammies and a stack of great books, thanks to my amazing friends.  (Seriously, I have the best friends in the world.)  I worked on focusing on [...]

Bye Bye Bone Marrow

March 29, 2009

As mentioned previously, I am in the process of working on getting my back fixed.  For the past three years, I have battled with a torn disc, and right around the time I didn’t think I could take any more poking, prodding, or pain, I was informed that I’d be a good candidate for Regenexx.  [...]

Plinky!

January 22, 2009

Another fun Social Media platform has hit the web, and it has some great potential! Plinky’s mission is to help people “create inspired content for the web.” How does it work? Glad you asked. The concept is fun, and if they get the buy-in, I think it’ll be a great service. First, users create an [...]

I don’t care what your political beliefs are, or where you are from, this is truly an historic day. How are you spending it? What are your hopes for the US in the upcoming years? I am watching the inauguration, hoping that the next four years help make this country better. I am not ignorant [...]

The Magic of Christmas …Or Macy's

December 11, 2008

Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about Macy’s. I truly do believe that Macy’s is magical -just the scent of the store alone can throw me into a state of unadulterated bliss. Shoes, shirts, cosmetics, Oh MY! Macy’s has the ability to instantly comfort me, kind of in the same way that Jasper [...]

Election 2008

November 3, 2008

Is anyone else as tired as I am of this election?  The mud-slinging, buzz words, and “I am so wonderful” speeches are getting on my last nerve.  That being said, this is a very important election, and no matter what you believe, it is very important that you get out there and vote.  Tomorrow is [...]
