Today started out as “one of those days” -I didn’t sleep well, woke up to a cold and gloomy day, the coffee maker overflowed, and my laptop got sent to the hospital because it decided to play dead this morning. Prince Charming and I went to vote, and then found out that we had to drive 20 miles back home to vote at our precinct, not the one near our jobs. (Yes, we realize this was dumb, but we’ve moved since the last circus election, and didn’t do our homework.)
We both worked a half day, and then left civilization to visit our precinct. At the fire station in our little town. Upon arrival, we were given the option of voting or getting a flu shot. I went ahead with the voting. All went well, we were in and out within about 10 minutes. We went and grabbed a quick lunch at the local cafe. I use the term “cafe” VERY loosely, but I got some grilled cheese and a coke, so I called that a success as well.
Upon returning home, I realized that the archaic loaner laptop I was given did not have wireless. No biggie, I’ve got an external wireless card. That I didn’t have administrative rights to install. Awesome. Our cable modem lives in a closet. I nearly spent the afternoon working sitting in the hallway, plugged into the router. Right about here is where things really turned around. Prince Charming just happened to have a computer available for me to check in with work -yippee!
Fifteen minutes later, I was back to work -on the couch in my sweats. Can it get better than this? Oh yes, I’ve got a puppy curled up by my feet, a warm fire, and bad television blaring in the background. AND, I just got an awesome kudos email from one of my favorite clients!
Within two hours, I’ll be done with work, enjoying a massage from my new massage therapist who COMES TO MY HOUSE. Oh yes, it doesn’t get much better than this on a random Tuesday in November.
